Assassinations Resumed

Pierre Gemayel, Minister of Industry and son of former President Amin Gemayel, was just assassinated near Beirut. "Gunmen opened fire as his convoy drove through Sin el-Fil neighbourhood. Gemayel was rushed to hospital where he later died of his wounds." Reports the The Daily Star.

This happens as Hezbollah prepares street demonstrations to topple the Government and forbid the international tribunal to ever see life. Geagea had predicted assassination attempts on sitting Ministers to force the dissolution of the Cabinet. So much for peaceful demonstrations and basic democratic rights to hit the streets as Syria's ally tried to make people believe.

Needless to say that the assassination will heighten the political tension and cold civil war that is going on. Question is will this prompt actual sectarian violence or will it be contained? Also, will these people go unpunished or finally be judged?

May he RIP and God help Lebanon.

Updates here.

Yehuda - A Maronite, he was a member of the Kataeb Party (Phalangist party) his grand father, Pierre Gemayel, was the founder of this party. He also was the son of former President Amine Gemayel, and the nephew of assassinated Kataeb leader and President Bashir Gemayel.
A Member of Parliament and Minister of Industry he was an anti-Syrian politician and part of the anti-Syrian coalition. He had just turned 34.
Hope this short bit of info helps out.

How many prominent anti-Syrian Lebanese have to die before the Lebanese people wake up and exterminate the Hezbollah dogs who attack at the whim of their Syrian leash-holders? The March 14 movement tried the hand-holding reasonable path. All it has brought them is more of their blood flowing in the streets and a war with Israel to feed Hezbollah's delusions of grandeur. Take to the streets and tell Assad, Ahmadinejad and Nasrallah that they and their agents can be made into "martyrs" as well if this is the path they have chosen.
